Constant Gardener #3 — New Life

The Nordic spring time is devious. It gives hope and then suddenly reverses everything. This morning started with a hail storm, turned into a sun-soaked day, with spring drizzle and back to hails.

In my — not so secret — garden, the early spring flowers in yellow, blue and white could be seen over the past week. A sense of life returning. Then a couple of freezing nights and some of these delicates flowers just died.

Having done the big chores in the garden, I felt this weekend is up for “Mika time”, so I decided to go for a bike ride at my island hide out. With the new life being visible, people were out gardening, lawn mowing(!), planting and tidying. I greeted horseback riders, other bikers, and enjoying the open landscapes, shores and forests. It gave me time for thoughts, and reflecting over how the residents and weekenders on this island are in many ways working toward sustainability, circularity and self-sufficient produces, where you can buy local vegetables, flowers, dairies directly from farms and visit vintage and recycle/re-use shops. It inspires!

In my daily work we work globally to support our customers and industries to decarbonize, seeing the local societies pushing for sustainability gives a confirmation of that we are on the right track (but we need to do more!).

Now, after the ride, I am enjoying a cup of coffee, enjoying the silence and feeling relaxed. This day is still young, so actually I might even be inspired to create some own new songs. Creativity in life is a source of exploring new dimensions. Have a great weekend and the new life!
